Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive optical imaging technique that has been successfully launched into the ophthalmologic eye care and disease diagnostic market. The main benefit of OCT is that it provides high definition cross-sectional images without damaging living tissues or objects.

Teledyne e2v line scan cameras have pioneered this application since the early 2000’s. High image quality and reliability make them ideally suited to detecting the scattered and weak signals from tissues, providing resolution down to micron levels and an imaging depth of millimetres.

Teledyne e2v is now bringing OCT to the next level by enabling wide 3D images and functional imaging through our new OctoPlus Spectral-Domain OCT cameras. Typical applications include: retinal disease diagnosis (for early detection of age related macular degeneration, glaucoma), cornea surgery assistance (to ensure maximum treatment accuracy), endoscopy (for laser surgery monitoring), dermatology (for early skin cancer diagnosis) and non-destructive testing (for solder/LCD/LED inspection, characterisation of polymers).
