Receiver Protectors
e2v have been manufacturing receiver protectors for over 30 yrs.
We supply products into both the commercial and military markets.
Receiver protectors isolate the sensitive receiver from the damaging levels of RF power present when the RF source transmits. When this power is no longer present, they go into a low-loss state, allowing the RF echoes to pass through to the receiver for amplification and detection.
The high power protection can be achieved by breakdown of a doped gas cell (TR Cell), biasing a diode across the waveguide or a combination of both. The protection can be automatic, transceiver controlled or a combination of both. More sophisticated protectors can even provide a calibrated loss between 0 and 50 dB in a transceiver-controlled swept response. Other functions can be included, such as a noise source, BITE, analogue or digital STC, quasi-active or quasi-passive.
The quasi-active functions provide the advantages of maximum power handling and low insertion loss with the benefit of protection from power supply loss.
We are a leading producer of solid-state receiver protectors. Significant advances over the years have negated the requirement for TR cells in new radar platforms.
e2v can provide solid-state limiters up to 70kW peak or 500W mean at X-Band. Product offerings over all frequencies from L-Band to Ka-Band. Solid-state receiver protectors are particularly suitable for TWT applications.
Integrated Microwave Packages
e2v develops and manufactures Integrated Microwave Packages (IMPs) for radars between L-band and Ka-band. IMPs combine a range of microwave elements in a single package customised to the user's requirements and providing optimum microwave performance.
The microwave elements can include duplexer circulators, isolators, filters, power monitoring facilities, noise generators, receiver protectors and electronic drive circuits with built-in test (BIT). The following specifications are typical:
