Question:
What are the recommended termination schemes for the analog input of the TS8388B 8-bit 1Gsps ADC?
Answer:
The recommended termination schemes for the TS8388B 8-bit 1Gsps ADC depend on both the package option of the ADC and the mode of implementation (differential or single-ended mode).
1- TS8388B 8-bit 1Gsps ADC in CQFP package (With and without heatspreader)
- Differential mode
In this case, each VIN and VINB signals require an external 50 Ohm reverse termination, as illustrated in the following figure.

- Single-ended mode
In this case, each VIN and VINB signals require an external 50 Ohm reverse termination. In addition, the unused signal VINB has to be grounded via a 50 Ohm resistor. This leads to terminating the double signal VINB by a 25 Ohm resistor to ground, as illustrated in the right part of the following figure

2- TS8388B 8-bit 1Gsps ADC in CBGA package
In the case of the ADC in the CBGA68 package, the reverse 50 Ohm terminations are already provided on the top of the package. This means that no additional external reverse termination is required. Nevertheless, in single-ended mode, the user has no choice but terminate the VINB signal to ground via a 50 Ohm resistor (see below).

• Differential mode

• Single-ended mode
