Question:
What are the 2 delay cells (DMUXDelAdj and ADCDelAdj)
of the TS81102G0 DMUX used for?
Answer:
The e2v TS81102G0 DMUX features two delay cells,
which are totally independent from one another and
which can be used for different purposes. Each delay
cell is described in detail in the following:

1. DMUX Delay Adjust Function
This delay cell is linked to the input clock of the DMUX
(CLKIN) as shown in the figure below:

This delay cell was implemented in order to match the clock
path to the data path: at the output of the ADC, the Data
Ready signal is supposed to be centered on the output Data
of the ADC.
However, the clock and data paths in the DMUX device are
not equivalent and a delay cell was necessary to ensure a
good timing on both data and clock inputs of the DMUX.
By tuning the DMUXDelAdjCtrl signal, the CLKIN signal can be
delayed by 250ps up to 750ps by steps of 50ps.

DMUXDelAdjCtrl Signal setting Delay
-0.5V 250ps
0V 500ps
+0.5V 750ps

Note: the settings for the DMUXDelAdjCtrl signal have
to be modified whenever the sampling frequency of the
ADC changes (whenever the input clock of the DMUX changes).
To make sure that the delay has been correctly set,
it may be required to reconstruct the signal coming out of
the ADC+DMUX system to see if no code is missing.

2. ADC Delay Adjust Function
The ADC Delay Adjust function of the DMUX device is in
fact a stand alone delay cell, which is independent of the
rest of the DMUX and does not intervene in the DMUX operation.
If you input a differential signal via the ADCDelAdjIN/ADCDelAdjINB pins, you can delay this signal thanks to ADCDelAdjCtrl and obtain a delayed signal at the output pins ADCDelAdjOUT/ADCDelAdjOUTB.

Note: This cell was added to the DMUX for interleaving application
considerations. As a matter of fact, this independent cell may be used to
synchronize two ADCs (in interleaving application or in systems where two
ADCs are used for multiplication of sampling frequency for example).
Please refer to the ADC + DMUX Application Note for more information.
