Question:
What is the analog bandwidth of the AT84AD001B and AT84AD004 ADCs in interleaving modes?
Answer:
The analog bandwidth of the AT84AD001B and AT84AD004 ADCs in interleaving mode is the same as the one specified in “no interleaving mode”, that is 1.5 GHz and 1 GHz at –3 dB respectively. Although the bandwidth is still 1. 5 GHz at -3 dB for the AT84AD001B (1 GHz for the AT84AD004), the interleaving mode is only guaranteed for Fin up to Fs/4 for the AT84AD001B (Fs/2 for the AT84AD004), where Fs is the frequency of the applied clock and with Fs max. = 1 Gsps for the AT84AD001B and 500 Msps for the AT84AD004, because of matching considerations: as Fin increases, the phase matching becomes critical and the different adjustments available on the device (DRDA, FiSDA, ISA) may not be sufficient to achieve an optimum matching of the channels, leading to a degradation of the performance as the analog input frequency increases.
