Automotive

e2v has been developing and producing automotive components for more than 10 years, enhancing driver comfort and vehicle security.

With our Corcelles facility TS16949 accredited, e2v is well versed in the stringent requirements of the automotive industry.  The Company has well established relationships with OEM and Tier 1 suppliers and firmly believes in the value of forming strategic partnerships at an early stage in order to develop tailored product solutions to meet specific vehicle and customer requirements.

Air quality sensing

By measuring pollution levels external to a vehicle with an Air Quality Sensor (AQS), the climate control system of a car is able to close the air inlet (recirculation mode), when the vehicle travels through a polluted area.

The following manufacturers trust e2v''s sensors to protect their customers: Ford, GM, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, PSA, Renault, Saab, Volkswagen, Volvo.

e2v offers a wide variety of AQS solutions, each of which integrates two or three dedicated gas sensing chips, one for reducing gases (CO/HC), one for oxidizing gases (NOx) and one for NH3 and other odour compounds. These modules measure a broad range of reducing gases that are commonly found in traffic / industrial / agricultural pollution.

In-cabin Air Quality Sensor

Minimizing fuel/energy consumption of cars can be achieved by driving in recirculation mode most of the time. In order for the air quality inside the car to remain acceptable, an In-cabin Air Quality Sensor (IAQS) is used to alert the climate control system to open the air inlet if the interior air quality has degradated (crowed car or smoking co-driver for example). The sensor helps the climate control system to run in recirculation as much as possible, hence improving fuel/energy consumption of cars. This is of particular interest in electric cars.

Hydrogen sensor

e2v has designed a hydrogen sensor that is able to be integrated into a fuel cell car to protect the occupants from unsafe concentrations of hydrogen. This sensor benefits from the experience of e2v in automotive parts design, sensor design as well as functional safety.
