We have an opportunity for a Project Administrator to join the Power Tubes and Systems (PTS) Business Unit at Chelmsford. The PTS Business Unit is focused on the development and support of high technology, electronic power devices used within a wide range of applications (Systems and Vacuum and gas filled devices). The growth of business within this division is dependent upon the prompt development of new cutting edge technology products into manufacturing.

In this role you will administer and co-ordinate project resources to support the Project Manager in ensuring delivery of products that meet customers’ changing demands.

Main accountabilities

  • Support the Project Manager in day-to-day running of the projects through the administration and co-ordination of project resources to achieve project milestones and cost targets.
  • Ensure that the project’s processes adhere to agreed company procedures and standards at all times and ensuring that any legal requirements are met, including export legislation.
  • Build an effective network within the organisation to ensure appropriate and effective contribution of others towards the project goals.
  • Use initiative and sound judgement to identify opportunities for continuous improvements of project schedule and costs.
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing and publishing project plans and required documentation for bids, tender vets, and other initiated or planned phases within projects.
  • Effectively communicate status of non-stock project parts, issues and risks to the Project Manager and effectively manage expectations where appropriate.
  • Ensure that all aspects of a project (resources, materials etc) are coherently and effectively joined to all other facets of the project. This includes support services (e.g. compliance, engineering services, purchasing), and manufacturing.
    Maintain suitable planning structures / processes to ensure timely delivery of materials and control of components to meet or exceed customer requirements.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a busy and demanding administration or co-ordination role. You will have excellent organisation, administration and time management skills. A proactive approach, attention to detail and the ability to see tasks through to completion are essential for this role. You will also have good interpersonal skills and possess the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels across the organisation.

You will be proficient on MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience of SAP and MS Project would be an advantage but is not essential. This role offers opportunity for development and training will be given to aid understanding and awareness of the following; Project Management Methodology, Export legislation, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Profit Margins, Cost tracking, Product Launch and marketing.
