Automotive Radar

e2v designs and manufactures microwave semiconductor diodes in the form of Graded Gap Gunn diodes (G3D), Gunn diode Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) and Transmit Receive (TR) Modules which provide the power source for Adaptive Cruise Control and commercial radar sensor applications.

e2v has been making Gunn, Schottky and Varactor diodes for over thirty years and is a leading participant of many research and development programmes aimed at furthering the safety and security of future vehicles.

One such project, SLIMSENS (Short and Long Range Integrated Multifuction Radar and Communications Sensors) is a joint industry, academic and UK Government funded research project aimed at developing a sensor with short and long range sensing and broadband communications capability within a single unit.  This project could provide vehicles of the future with capabilities such as pedestrian detection, improved lane keeping, and stop-go ACC.
