This role is focussed on the Lincoln Business, and the Defence Microwave products being developed and produced in the factory, to ensure that
Manage the bid process related to Lincoln Defence Microwave products, to ensure timely answers to customers and sales.
Defence Microwave product information is up to date and relevant to the sales organisation.
Liaison with Sales channels to ensure Marketing information is collected, to support analysis of the revenue and margin from existing and future products.
Defence Microwave products have a clear Product Life Cycle Strategy which is monitored, updated and identified actions managed at least annually.
The product manager will provide a technical interface (for Defence Microwave product types), with technical understanding of the market and key customers.
Flexibility to support these aspects in other product areas (e.g. Commercial Radar, Security and Electronic Safety & Arming) will also be necessary from time to time.
Specific Responsibilities·
Provide ‘product champion’ point of contact for Defence Microwave customers (external and internal), managing customers’ expectations in line with e2v’s strategy·
Provide support to the sales team in service of existing and potential customers.
Compilation of tender packs for non-standard Defence Microwave bids·
Authoring of product data sheets, application notes and capability briefs·
Support the establishment of a Lincoln Product Strategy for Defence Microwave products, including market placement and price/margin development. In addition, investigate and manage opportunities for levering automotive and commercial product technologies into Defence, Aerospace and Security applications.
Measures of Performance
Specific targets on bid preparation times, margin development will be in line with the business overall targets. Other targets will be milestone achievement based.
Skills/Experience
Experience in a marketing or sales environment would be useful, as is being responsible for product development projects. A good skill level in information technology (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint) will be required.
Qualifications
An Engineering degree, or extensive experience in a similar technology environment, where the knowledge has been applied in product or technology development.
Personal skills and competenciesA confident individual who is capable of interacting at all levels, both internal to e2v and with our customers. The person will have a broad understanding of the technologies required in our market places, with particular emphasis on Defence, and to a lesser degree Commercial, Marine, Electronic Safety & Arming and Security markets.
The individual must be approachable and relish the interaction with diverse groups and technologies. As such they must be able to quickly and accurately summarise and present information, both verbally and in writing.
The position will require good verbal and written communication skills, a considered approach with attention to detail. The Product Manager will have the ability to represent e2v to our customers, and instil confidence in those you work with.
The role involves some UK and overseas travel.
