e2v technologies, a specialist developer and manufacturer of high-technology electronic components and sub-systems, is pleased to announce that it has received a contract for US$5.7m (£3.0m) from US based Dentrix Dental Systems, part of the Henry Schein Inc. healthcare group, for high performance x-ray dental sensors. This new contract is a follow on from the initial contract awarded in September 2003 and is effective from June 2005, when the current contract completes.
e2v's range of x-ray dental sensors are enjoying strong demand, particularly from the USA, but also in Europe, where the dental x-ray imaging market is seeing continued growth. The technology offers advantages over traditional film based systems including provision of data which is virtually real-time, lower radiation exposure and improved data storage and transmission.
At the time of the year end trading statement we said we had excellent engagement with key customers for some important programmes in the new financial year. The securing of this contract helps to reinforce our confidence in expectations for the current year.
e2v technologies plans to publish preliminary results for the year ended 31 March 2005 on 23 June 2005.
Keith Attwood, CEO of e2v technologies commented.
'This order secures our position as a leading supplier to the fast growing dental x-ray imaging market. This follow on contract is testimony to e2v technologies' technical expertise in this field and operational effectiveness, as well as the successful relationship the two companies have fostered over recent years'.
