- TitleRoyalty visit e2v in Chelmsford
- Date18 July 2005
His Royal Highness, the Duke of Kent, visited Essex headquartered technology innovator, e2v technologies, on Wednesday 6th July to tour the manufacturing site and meet with staff. The Duke of Kent visited e2v as part of his keen interest in British high technology manufacturing companies. The visit was also particularly timely as e2v celebrates the first anniversary of its stock market flotation.
His Royal Highness is the first cousin of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. One of his major public roles for many years was Vice-Chairman of British Trade International, or BTI (formerly the British Overseas Trade Board), so he remains interested in British companies, like e2v, that have a significant export business. In the year ended 31 March 2005, 75% of e2v's sales were derived from exports to over 50 different countries.
During his visit to e2v, the Duke of Kent took part in a tour of the manufacturing facilities and met some of the staff involved in all aspects of the business. His Royal Highness was particularly keen to learn about the current technologies and products at e2v.
Since 1968, e2v technologies has been awarded 11 Queen's Awards for Enterprise in technological and export achievement and innovation.
