- Date18 July 2005
e2v technologies announces that it has won a £4.3 million order to supply travelling wave tubes (TWTs) for the new Eurofighter Typhoon Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS).
DASS is designed to enhance aircraft survivability with an advanced suite of self defence sensors and countermeasures. TWTs are an important component in this system.
The order comes via SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems (SELEX S&AS) who supply the state-of-the-art DASS electronic warfare suite to the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, under contract from BAE Systems. The TWTs will be used on a fleet of over 380 aircraft and will be delivered by e2v over the next two and a half years.
Keith Attwood, Chief Executive of e2v said:
'We are delighted to win this contract against strong competition from both North American and European TWT manufacturers. This confirms our position as one of the world's leading suppliers of electronic warfare TWTs. This contract win positions e2v well for future contracts involving the Eurofighter Typhoon, as well as other major electronic countermeasures' programmes throughout the world.'
