- Date21 December 2005
Chelmsford, Essex - 16 December 2005 - Sir Digby Jones, Director-General of the CBI visited e2v technologies, a world leader in the supply of electronic components and subsystems, today to tour its manufacturing site and meet staff. Whilst most UK regions suffered a decline in manufacturing output last month, Sir Digby Jones was encouraged by the continuing success of e2v technologies. The South East, second only to Northern Ireland, registered the sharpest fall on record, but e2v stands out as a manufacturing success story in the region.
The visit was particularly timely as e2v released its interim results in early December that highlighted its strong half-year performance and healthy forward order book. Commenting on the visit, e2v's CEO Keith Attwood said, 'We are delighted to have had the opportunity to extend our hospitality to Sir Digby Jones. I am proud of the contribution that e2v and its staff make to both the local community and global marketplace and am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to share our achievements with the Director General of the CBI. We hope Sir Digby has gained more insight into our business, our approach to innovation and the quality of our people.'
Sir Digby Jones commented, 'Current economic conditions make it a particularly tough time for manufacturers, but it is a pleasure to see a UK based company like e2v doing well and competing on a global basis. Its focused approach to design and innovation are vital qualities the new global economy demands.'
e2v technologies is an innovator in electronic tube and sensing technologies and is able to both harness its own intellectual property and share that expertise with customer partners to deliver market-leading components and sub-systems.
