- Titlee2v Secures Third Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 2 Contract
- Date08 March 2006
e2v has been awarded a £2.5m contract to supply Travelling Wave Tube (TWT) driver modules into tranche 2 of the Eurofighter Typhoon Captor Radar programme. This contract win follows two previous contracts for tranche 2 and reconfirms e2v’s position as a key supplier to the Eurofighter Typhoon programme.
The first major tranche 2 contract, won in July 2005, was a £4.5m order to supply Travelling Wave Tubes (TWTs) for the Eurofighter Typhoon Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS). DASS is designed to enhance aircraft survivability with an advanced suite of self-defence sensors and countermeasures. TWTs are an important component in this system. The TWTs will be used within a fleet of up to 380 aircraft and will be delivered by e2v over the next two and a half years.
In December 2005, e2v won a £1.5m contract to supply sensors for the second tranche of the Eurofighter Typhoon Missile Approach Warning System.
e2v has been supplying products for the first tranche of the Eurofighter Typhoon since 2000. As a result of successfully delivering against these orders, e2v has now been awarded these three contracts for tranche 2, worth a total of £8.5m.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is the world’s most capable and dynamic swing-role combat aircraft. Developed by Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, the Eurofighter Typhoon will fulfil Air Force requirements well into the mid-21st century.
