- Titlee2v Announces New Line Scan Camera with Gigabit Ethernet Communication
- Date09 November 2006
e2v extends its renowned AViiVA line scan camera family with the new range of AViiVA Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) cameras.
The new AViiVA Gigabit Ethernet UM2 and UC2 GigE cameras have been designed with three key concepts in mind: Accuracy, versatility and ease of system integration, whilst maintaining the same compact housing design (56 x 60 x 39.4 mm) and sensors (512 to 4096 pixels, 10µ or 14µ), from the current AViiVA cameras.
Utilising the same sensors provides an added benefit for customers looking to upgrade from AViiVA SM2 to AViiVA UM2 as their camera systems will not require a new optical system.
The new GigE camera family has been designed as a complete package: With a wider gain range (36 dB), automatic calibration (tap balance and flat field correction), low noise electronics and fully upgradeable via Gigabit Ethernet interface. With 12 bit capability, dedicated electronics and excellent dynamic range, these cameras offer variable integration time, gain and offset, with two external triggers enabling the synchronisation of several cameras.
e2v's sensor manufacturing processes also provide excellent Photo Response Non-uniformity (PRNU) values, a significant element of differentiation among camera competitors.
The AViiVA UM2 and UC2, with the new Gigabit Ethernet interface, work with proven Ethernet technology, utilising the benefits of cheap and reusable network elements, reducing both installation costs and compatibility conflicts. With a Gigabit Ethernet interface the end-user also avoids the cost of a frame grabber, reducing application integration complexity and cost. AVIIVA UM2 and UC2 are GigE Vision and GenICam compliant.
'The AViiVA Gigabit Ethernet family of cameras is a natural extension of the AViiVA Camera Link family,' said Christophe Robinet, Camera Marketing Manager of e2v's imaging product line. 'The high levels of performance and reliability already demonstrated in trials of our new AViiVA Gigabit Ethernet cameras make them ideally suited for the most demanding industrial applications, from Web inspection to document scanning and surface inspection to metrology, and the use of standard interfaces dedicated to the machine vision industry, GigE Vision and GenICam, will only add to their ease of use'.
The UM2 and UC2 Gigabit Ethernet cameras will be in full production from early 2007.
