- Titlee2v Expands AViiVA® Line Scan Camera Range
- Date20 March 2007
e2v has announced the launch of the AViiVA® UM4, 8K monochrome camera, a new member of the AViiVA® line scan camera family, designed for inspection applications requiring high-speed, high-resolution and superior imaging performance.
This new Ultimate Monochrome (UM) series camera provides detailed inspection capability in a multi-camera system, with 8192 pixels of resolution, four outputs at 40 MHz per taps, line rates reaching 19 700 lines per second and a dynamic range of 62 dB, even at ultra high speed. This camera meets the exacting demands of industrial machine vision applications requiring easy to use flat field correction.
Building on e2v’s expertise in line scan technology, this new AViiVA® UM4 utilises e2v’s Charge Coupled Device (CCD) image sensor, and features a compact housing (76 x 76 x 56 mm) to produce an advanced camera design. In common with the UM8, the AViiVA UM4 features integrated mechanics providing a high level of heat-dissipation and also highly accurate sensor alignment, which minimises additional system costs for optics and lighting.
e2v’s manufacturing processes also provide excellent Photo Response Non-uniformity (PRNU) values, a significant element of differentiation among camera designs. The AViiVA® UM4 is designed to be easy to use through the inclusion of automated tap balancing and flat field correction, whilst the software provided allows direct upgrading of the camera’s firmware. The camera is also RoHS compliant.
“The Ultimate concept behind our AViiVA® camera range was first seen on the AViiVA® UM8. Our customers have told us that the automatic balancing is the simplest to use on the market, providing a reliable solution for their most demanding of applications. Customers also love the fact that the camera is supplied preset and ready to use”, commented Christophe Robinet, e2v’s Camera Marketing Manager, “the simple cube design reduces the complexity of camera accessories and significantly reduces multi-camera costs for flat panel display inspection, PCB inspection, OCR and bar code reading and web inspection applications” he added.
The AViiVA® UM4 comes with a Camera Link® interface that allows easy integration of the camera into existing systems and is compliant with the fast and powerful frame grabbers available today. The CommCam GUI (graphical user interface) with its plug-and-play system has contributed to the success of AViiVA® line scan cameras. It enables automatic identification of the camera range, faster programming, simple image storage and uploading of firmware for upgrades and customisation. It includes fine gain and offset settings, an output mode of 8 to 12 bits, flat field correction and automatic tap balancing.
The AViiVA® UM4 8k will be featured at the China International Machine Vision Exhibition in Shanghai from 22nd –24th March 2007 and will be available for sale from the third quarter 2007.
