e2v Introduces its New High-Performance Industrial Camera
e2v extends the AViiVA line scan camera family with the launch of the AViiVA UM8 high-performance 12K camera for industrial machine vision applications.
This new camera provides a more detailed inspection capability in a multi-camera system, with 12 288 pixels of resolution, eight taps working at 40 MHz, line rates reaching 25K lines per second and a dynamic range of 64 dB, even at an ultra high speed. This camera specifically meets the demands of industrial machine vision applications, requiring ever increasing rates of inspection.
Building on e2v's experience of line scan technology, this new AViiVA UM8 utilises e2v's own Charge Coupled Device (CCD) image sensor, has a compact housing (76 x 76 x 56 mm), and integrates the best of e2v's technology to produce an advanced camera design.
The camera provides simplicity of use and high performance within a compact housing, whilst maintaining the AViiVA's leading heat-dissipation ratings and highly accurate sensor alignment to minimize the cost of optics and lighting.
e2v's manufacturing processes also provide excellent Photo Response Non-uniformity (PRNU) values, a significant element of differentiation among camera competitors.
Camera functionality also includes fine automatic-balancing taps, simple flat field correction and a total accessible gain range of 32 dB, whilst the software provided allows a direct upgrade of the camera: Key benefits for multi-camera systems.
"The qualification tests we performed with our customers confirm that it is simply the most sensitive product they have seen on the market, providing a reliable solution for their most demanding applications," commented Christophe Robinet, e2v's Camera Marketing Manager. "In addition, our deceptively simple cube design reduces the complexity of camera accessories and significantly reduces multi-camera system costs for customers in flat panel display inspection, PCB inspection and high performance web inspection applications".
The AViiVA UM8 is supplied with a Camera Link configuration interface that allows easy integration of the camera into existing systems. It includes fine gain and offset settings, an output mode of 8 to 12 bits, flat field correction and automatic balancing of the eight taps. This camera is compatible with fast and powerful frame grabbers currently available. The CommCam GUI concept (graphical user interface) with its plug-and-play system has contributed to the success of AViiVA line scan cameras. It enables automatic identification of the camera range, faster programming, easy saving process and uploading of firmware for upgrades and customisation.
The AViiVA UM8 will be available end of year 2006.
