- Titlee2v wins prestigious Manufacturing Award
- Date21 September 2004
The Award recognises how e2v has remained competitive by increasing its rate of innovation, anticipation and responsiveness to ever changing market conditions. With its collection of Queen’s Awards and its leading position in a number of global, niche markets, e2v technologies is setting an example to the UK hi-tech market with its dedication to design innovation and its high R&D spend.
“It’s very rewarding to receive this kind of recognition for e2v’s focused approach to design and innovation”, said John Brewster, e2v’s Sales & Marketing Communications Director. “Following our successful IPO, it is an incredibly exciting time for all at e2v.”
Dr Charles Tennant, Principal Fellow at the Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick, was on the judging panel at the awards: "People say that we're great at inventing things in the UK but not always at bringing them to fruition. e2v is a great example of a UK company that has invented an excellent product, developed it and successfully brought it to market.
"It is the commercial aspect of product design that is the essence of innovation, not just the intellectual knowledge behind it. The UK manufacturing industry needs more innovative companies like e2v technologies if it is to be competitive globally - our long term success in manufacturing does not depend on employing thousands of people and churning out high volumes of products, but in adding value through skills and innovation."
e2v technologies is an innovator in RF and sensing technologies and seeks to exploit and develop its intellectual property to deliver high-quality end products and systems. Innovation in RF and sensing technologies requires high levels of insight and discrimination, particularly in materials science. e2v technologies is able to both harness its own intellectual property and share that expertise with customer partners to deliver market-leading end products and systems.
e2v’s products are used in the aerospace and defence, medical and scientific, and industrial and commercial sectors. e2v technologies works with leading scientific agencies around the world, such as NASA and the European Space Agency, so its scientists are exposed to the cutting-edge of science.
