Chelmsford-based e2v technologies hosted a successful conference this month. Utilising local conference and event facilities at Five Lakes Resort, Tolleshunt Knights, Essex, the hi-tech Company welcomed 22 guests from its global distribution base for a 'meeting of minds'. The event programme concentrated on key products and areas of foreseen growth for the Company, while providing a platform for formal and informal discussions to be held between e2v staff and visiting distributors.
The 2-day conference opened on 09 November, 2004, with a welcome speech from e2v's Chief Executive Officer, Keith Attwood. This was followed by a structured programme of formal presentations and smaller group 'workshop sessions', which centred on specific products, such as the Company's Argus®3 thermal imaging camera used in fire fighting and rescue missions.
The evening began with a formal dinner, after which select distributors were presented with Company Awards. Tangram Electronic Engineering Co. Ltd, based in China, received an Award for 'Outstanding Business Development', while Ronald Verloop from Dutch distribution company Alphatron Electronic Parts BV, was pleased to accept the glass plaque from Mr. Attwood for 'Global Business Achievement'. Verloop stated: 'It has been very rewarding to attend this conference and to build even stronger bridges with e2v. Keeping up with Company news and technology developments, as well as being able to openly exchange ideas in such a setting, is a crucial part of our ongoing business relationship. Thank you for this Award and for your hospitality.'
In addition, PR Multi Reka Sarana (Indonesia) picked up an award for Excellence in Customer Support and Electrondart (Israel) for Outstanding Business Growth.
The conference concluded at Five Lakes the next morning when attendees were collected by coach for an e2v-Chelmsford site tour and lunch, with an extended e2v sales team in attendance.
Commenting on the overall event, Andy , e2v Distribution Development Manager, said: 'To welcome so many distributors to such a highly focused conference event not only strengthens our working relationships and channels of communication, but also ensures that we are all working toward the same, clear goals. Gaining valuable local market knowledge from our distributors, while developing their knowledge of our products and technology in return, is a key exchange in our partnerships. At e2v, we are aware just how important a role our distributors play in the Company's future development. Events such as these hopefully also demonstrate our commitment to them.'
Sales via distribution centres and consultants account for over 20% of e2v's turnover.
