Chelmsford-based e2v technologies, has donated an award winning Argus® thermal imaging camera (TIC) to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, Europe's premier aviation museum.
The museum in Cambridgeshire is part of an historic site and has an outstanding collection of tanks, military vehicles and naval exhibits. However, it is more famously known for its spectacular air shows which attract hundreds of visitors each year. In order to protect both the public and the historic aircraft, the museum has its own dedicated fire service.
e2v technologies recognised that the museum would benefit from an Argus® thermal imaging camera, but that Duxford has limited resources. Therefore, e2v technologies visited Duxford Museum to present them with a donated Argus® thermal imaging camera.
The Argus® TIC permits firefighters to see through thick smoke to detect people that may be trapped or unconscious in a fire, thereby potentially saving lives. The donation of this camera now means that the museum is even better prepared to handle the eventuality of a serious fire.
Mick Webb, Chief Fire and Security Manager at the museum, says 'We are very grateful to e2v technologies for their kind donation of an Argus® thermal imaging camera. The safety of our visitors and staff is paramount so this thermal imaging camera will be a valuable addition to our fire emergency equipment.'
e2v technologies has been producing Argus® TICs for over 20 years and is the official supplier of thermal imaging cameras to firefighters in the UK.
In 2003, e2v launched its new Argus®3 TIC - the most advanced firefighting and rescue camera in the world. Argus®3 camera has since won 6 awards for design and innovation and continues to be one of the most popular thermal imaging cameras available on the market.
