Strategic Partnerships

Fostering close strategic alliances that complement our capabilities

Faraday

A Faraday Partnership in High Power RF Engineering was approved in September 2001. e2v is a founder member. Faraday Partnerships are schemes sponsored by the DTI and funded jointly by the DTI and one of the Research Councils. The purpose is to focus the UK capability in chosen technologies so that investment in university and other fundamental research can be accelerated into marketable products much more quickly. The presumption is that it will make the UK more internationally competitive and will encourage growth. The co-funding organisation for our partnership is PPARC (the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council). e2v is a founding member of the partnership and will be the first to occupy the Chairmanship of the Technical Steering Committee. Initially, projects will focus on the requirements of PPARC (accelerator physics etc.) as, to start with, this is the only source of R&D funds. But, a key element in the brief of this partnership is to look for other sources of funding so that subjects such as industrial, environmental and medical applications can be included.
