Commercial and Industrial

e2v not only supplies the RF and sensing technology underpinning many areas of commercial and industrial endeavour worldwide; it also maintains a commitment to innovation that supports and enables product development for its customers in this sector.

The broadcast communications industry has long relied on e2v products: triodes and tetrodes for radio transmitters; Klystrons, IOTs and ESCIOTs as the power source behind digital and analogue UHF TV transmitters; Thyratrons as an essential component of the crowbar transmitter protection circuitry and e2v flyaway, truck based and fixed satcom amplifiers to ensure reliable uplinks.

Radars for small boats, harbours and small aircraft are supplied by manufacturers the world over who use e2v magnetrons as the source of microwave power and many other supporting e2v products.

For RF drying, and both induction and dielectric (capacitance) heating applications - especially in the developing world - our gridded tubes are a reliable source of power.

e2v gridded tubes are also used for DC and RF excitation of industrial lasers, with thyratrons and spark gaps drivers for CO2 and Eximer lasers.

High power LINAC magnetrons help to keep our air and sea ports safe by providing the microwave energy required for effective cargo screening.

Expertise in sensing technology has won e2v many customers. Our gas sensing heads (electrochemical, pellistors and non-dispersive infra red) are supplied to OEMs for incorporation in sensing instruments that protect workers in hazardous environments everywhere, from petrochemical plants to mining. The Automotive industry also benefits; e2v microwave semiconductor diodes and Gunn diode Voltage Controlled Oscillators are core  incorporated in both Adaptive Cruise Control and ‘next generation’ microwave vehicle alarm systems.

Fire services also rely on e2v technology: thermal imaging cameras are in use in over 30 countries and our REDS (Radio Evacuation Distress System) is sold globally through partner companies.
