The Line Engineering team will be responsible for the day to day support of the production line. They will ensure we have robust and repeatable manufacturing systems and processes to deliver the required quality and productivity across EDS.
Main Accountabilities
• Provide a rapid response to issues affecting the production line, utilising a systematic problem solving approach to maintain a smooth production flow.
• Understand the capabilities of all the production processes and monitor scrap rates to give advance warning of impending issues. Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to give robust processes.
• Work with manufacturing and planning to develop an effect capacity plan/model. Monitor performance and ‘line balance’, and improve efficiency.
• Using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools continually improve the production line to eliminate waste and reduce process variation.
• Carry out analysis and processing of Returns, ensuring company targets are achieved and customers receive a prompt turnaround.
• Maintain and improve Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that all relevant information is captured and that all documentation is clear, concise and unambiguous.
• Identify the skills required for the production line and create detailed training plans that ensure staff are correctly trained before starting work on production.
• Assist with the design and management of production line layouts to enable efficient and reliable manufacture..
Essential Experience
• Education to HND/degree level or equivalent experience within Physics/Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience working in a manufacturing / project environment are essential.
• Generic knowledge of vacuum systems, joining techniques and microwave principles and/or experience of HV electronics and electro-mechanical assembly.
• Excellent problem solving skills, with experience of problem solving methodologies PDCA, 4UP.
• Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma problem solving tools are desirable.
• Demonstrable achievement in producing innovative approaches to technical challenges.
